C K Dexter Haven is something of a veteran in central Scotland's experimental music scene. She has a track record of collaborative and solo performances at high profile events (Instal Fringe, Subcurrent, Vector festival), releases on a wide variety of labels (Chocolate Monk, Bip Hop, Benbecula) and has also been actively involved in promoting concerts in Edinburgh.
Her improvisational and collaborative approach to performance has previously drawn from a free noise based acoustic palette. However, her recent work with quiet sine tones has resulted in music with a glacial fragility and austerity, which reflects and magnifies the kind of sounds that are normally treated as unwanted noise from recording equipment and domestic appliances.
