Dialogues Discuss

Friday 16th February schedule

Our day of artist talks is designed to introduce audiences to the specialist work of some of this year's performers. Admission is free, but space is limited. Arrive early and in an orderly fashion, we start at 11am.

Dialogues was established in 1999 to explore combinations of live instruments with interactive electronic sounds and this year's talks highlight four very different approaches. The first is introduced by Ollie Bown of Icarus who describes the use of computer-derrived algorithmic systems to control elements of live performance, the second theme is provided by Steve Argüelles and concerns his approach to synchronising live percussion with recorded loops. The third theme is covered by DI Hannes Raffaseder and deals with the concept of real-time-remixing with an introduction to music and performance systems that can deal with unpredicted sonic input. Thomas Strønen ends the day with a discussion of how his tools affect the sonic output.
