Härdig (vocals, live processing & electronics) and Hayes (piano, analogue synths, electronics) met at the Norberg electronic music festival in Sweden this year, where they both gave improvisational performances inside the vast concrete and steel mining structure, Mimer Laven, famous for its seven seconds reverb. They are collaborating on new material, which will be performed at Inspace, Edinburgh, and subsequently in Malmö, Sweden.

SOFIA HÄRDIG

SOFIA HÄRDIG is a Swedish musician, composer and sound artist. She works both as a solo artist with with several record releases and as a improvisation musician in noise and experimental music. She works with voice, live processing, guitar, laptop, electronic, cassettes. keyboard etc. She also writes, produces, mixes and arranges music for her own albums and to dance, film and other artist.

5th December 2012 she is releasing her 5th solo album featuring musicians like John Essing (bob hund), Per Svensson (Freddie Wadling) and James Welburn (Tony Buck-The Necks). She has worked with musicians from The Hellacopters, bob hund, Free Kitten(US), Bordoms(JAP), OOIOO (JAP), Sundburned Hand Of The Man (US). And played with many experimental musicians like Ikue Mori (US), Yoshimi (JAP), Mats Gustafsson (SWE), Sofia Agnél (FR), Lotte Anker (DK) and many more. She has from time lived and worked in Berlin, New York, Stockholm and Malmö.

LAUREN SARAH HAYES

LAUREN SARAH HAYES is a composer and performer from Glasgow who works with combinations of bespoke software, prepared piano, analogue monosynths, drum machines and live electronics. Her practice explores new strategies for live electronic performance by investigating the performer's physical relationship with the digital realm, and seeking to deepen this through the medium of touch. She is a regular improviser, collaborating in duos/trios (Můstek, Monosynth Orchestra) and also performing with large-scale ensembles (Edimpro).

She enjoys performing her music around the world, and recent ventures include BEAM (London), Sonorities (Belfast), NIME (Oslo), ICMC (Ljubljana) and EMS (New York). She has been supported by artistic residencies at EMS (Stockholm) in late 2011, and STEIM (Amsterdam) in 2012.

FREIDA ABTAN

FREIDA ABTAN is a Canadian multi-disciplinary artist and composer, currently pursuing her PhD in Computer Music and Multimedia at Brown University. Her music falls somewhere in between musique concrete and more modern noise and experimental audio and both genres are influential to her sound. Her work has been compared to bands such as Coil, and Zoviet France, because of her use of spectral manipulation and collage.

As well as having created visual shows for and performed with the internationally renown group Nurse with Wound, Freida has presented her own sound and visual work at festivals across North America and Europe. Her first album “subtle movements” is available on United Dairies / Jnana Records. Her second release “the hands of the dancer” is available on finite state and through Jnana Records.
